GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Reimbursement Specialist will function under the supervision of the Reimbursement Director. Performs moderate to highly complex claims processing and reimbursement work. Work involves determining eligibility and proper rates, maintaining accounts, and collecting charges for the support maintenance and treatment furnished to clients. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Processes and works appeals, denials, and uncollected balances with all coverage plans for all counties and programs served. This position is also responsible for working on reports that help maintain accuracy in the EHR for eligibility with all coverage, even self-pay. This includes also working potential Medicaid losses as well as being trained in all reimbursement functions. This position also works closely with agency staff to ensure the accuracy of all client data I the EHR, and all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for the position:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or GED
- Two (2) years’ experience of advanced level of proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, database and navigating through programs on the internet.
- Ability to work successfully with staff, management, and outside entities.
- Must possess organizational and data entry skills, be able to work under pressure and in demanding situations.
- Experience entering data into an Electronic Health Record system.
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants who possess one or more of the following qualifications in addition to the minimum qualifications are preferred: Working knowledge of computer systems including software, departmental rules, regulations, procedures, and functions.
- Submits required documentation and/or reports accurately and timely.
- Knowledge of consumer data systems that will reduce manual effort and downtime.
- Knowledge of rules, regulations, and standards for IDD/Mental Health services governing state reporting.
- Knowledge of data verification.
- Knowledge of health-related accounting and collection procedures.
- Advanced computer skills in the use of Excel and Word.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work as a team member positively and productively.
- Ability to problem-solve in a creative, viable, and realistic manner.
