GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Camino Real Community Services is a Trauma Informed Care Agency and implements the principles of Trauma Informed Care
Camino Real Licensed Counselors are relied upon to deliver the full range of counseling services that get better results for improved mental health and substance use disorders. Responsible for providing services to chemically dependent individuals, who may also have a co-occurring mental illness. Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors (LCDCs) deliver a full range of services to include direct care to adults and children/adolescents in an outpatient setting. Services include individual, group, and family counseling, assessment and recovery planning, chemical dependency education, and relapse prevention. Counselors will establish and maintain good working relationships with local schools, probation, judges, and other community resources. Counselor must be a recovery role model for individuals enrolled in Camino Real Community Services (CRCS). LCDCs determine what will help individuals reduce their risk of relapsing and increase their chances of becoming a productive member of the community. LCDCs will screen and assess for substance use, psychosocial and environmental status of individuals and coordinate referral of individuals to clinical and other resources and services. LCDCs have basic knowledge of the Counseling 12 Core Functions of drug and alcohol substance abuse programs and treatment, and of the 12 Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, basic knowledge of the criminal justice system, basic knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy methods and techniques, basic knowledge of Dual Diagnosis Treatment, and residential placement process through OSAR. LCDCs have a commitment to uphold and adhere to the Code of Ethics as outlined by the CSCD and the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse and Texas Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse. LCDCs communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, organize and report data, and work with a team of professionals to implement team strategic approaches to work assignments.
LCDCs are proficient in operating Windows-based word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. LCDCs document work daily utilizing agency approved software. Clinical supervision will be provided by appropriate staff. LCDCs constantly exercise vigilance in maintaining confidential files and reports and contribute to CRCS stated purposes. Position has set productivity standards, which must be met monthly. Use of personal vehicles may be required. May require travel between sites.

Position Overview
The Licensed Counselor of Substance Use Disorder Services (SUDS) primarily provides counseling services to individuals with substance use disorderproblems in an individual or group setting. In addition, this position serves as the assigned Clinical Director for the primary licensed facility andsatellite locations. This role ensures high-quality, trauma-informed care; regulatory compliance; evidence-based practice adoption; and seamless coordination across clinical operations, documentation, contracts, and community partnerships. Responsible for meeting productivity standards and revenue requirements in a fee for service model of care.Core Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Care Delivery- Will serve as the assigned SUD Facility lead for a state-recognized licensed facility, ensuring direct services and brief interventionsfor mental health and substance use disorders are delivered with consistency, fidelity, and measurable outcomes.
- Provides biopsychosocial intakes, screenings, and diagnostic formulation; establish an appropriate course of treatment across levels of care (individual, group, psychoeducation).
- Ensure treatment plans include clear, measurable goals and regular progress reviews; reinforce clinical accountability and timely documentation of all services.
- Champion integrated behavioral health approaches that address co-occurring conditions and the behavioral/psychological determinants of overall well-being.
Team Development & Supervision
- Provide clinical supervision/consultation to licensed professionals and LCDCs; promote interprofessional collaboration and a culture of trauma-informed, integrated care.
- Support professional development (CEUs, specialty training) and performance management grounded in competencies, ethics, and client outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement & Community Relations
- Represent SUDS programs in assigned local communities, with internal leaders, and executive teams; attends regularly scheduled OSARRegion 11 and 8 meetings as well as SUD HHSC Monthly Calls.
- Develop relationships with community partners, courts, parole, probation, hospitals, and recovery organizations to strengthen referral networks and wraparound supports.
Operations, Safety & Risk
- Maintain policies for high-risk situations, crisis response, and continuity of care; ensure staff readiness for stressful environments andsafe operations across sites.
- Oversee secure record-keeping, transportation policies, and compliance with organizational driving requirements when travel is part of service delivery.

Licensure status: In addition to an LCDC license in Texas, the applicant must maintain one or more of the following Texas Counseling licenses which constitutes as a Licensed Professional of the Healing Arts (LPHA):
- LPC LCSW
- LMFT
- Clinical outcomes: Demonstrable improvement in treatment plan goals; completion rates for CBT and group curricula.
- Training compliance: 100% completion of required certifications (e.g., CBT) and mandatory training within defined timeframes.
- Contract performance: All deliverables met on time; positive payer/granter evaluations and renewals.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for the position:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major courses in social, behavioral, or human service, holding on the following licenses (LCSW, LPC, LMFT).
- Must be a Texas Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor or LCDC Intern under supervision.
- License must be in good standing.
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in counseling and/or Social Work.
- English/Spanish skills; demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish.
- Training in trauma informed care through class completion or other formal training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of individual needs/characteristics associated with mental illness.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and practices of behavioral science and behavioral health care.
- Knowledge of community based behavioral health service.

- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of local community resources, how to access them and use them effectively.
