GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the MH/IDD Wrap Director, this position will deliver Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Authority Services that include but are not limited to administration of the Determination of Intellectual Disability (DID) testing and adaptive behavior assessments and completion of related processes. This position will cover the CRCS nine (9) county service area. When not completing DID testing, assessment scoring, or report writing the LPA will participate in the development and delivery of IDD service competency training with Camino Real staff and community resources. The LPA may also be called upon to provide counseling for dually diagnosed individuals as an alternative to existing counseling resources when warranted and appropriate. (LPA will not be expected to function as the primary counselor for supported individuals).
Additional duties may include specific IDD intervention strategy training for CRU staff when needed, community outreach sessions, and/or brief counseling intervention for de-escalation. Self-motivation, strong organizational skills, computer literacy, and excellent verbal and written skills are required.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for the position:
Master’s degree and licensed as a Psychological Associate by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologist, or a Specialist in School Psychology, OR a PhD Psychologist with:
One year employment experience in the field of intellectual disability and graduate course work or one- year supervised experience in individual intellectual and behavior assessment.
DID Certification number from the State of Texas or eligibility for DID certification.
Must be bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience utilizing/administering the WAIS & Vineland.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Skills in Word and Excel.
Ability to interpret diagnostic evaluations, and to maintain accurate records.
Skill in the use of psychological evaluation and assessment techniques.
Knowledge of psychology, psychometric, and physiological principles, diagnostic criteria, and of psychological evaluation methods.
Knowledge of applied behavior analysis techniques and ability to use this knowledge effectively.
Demonstrates the ability to resolve conflict in areas of responsibility.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work under conditions requiring physical stamina and the ability to work in a stressful environment.
