GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for all intakes and assessments of new referrals.  Duties to include receiving and welcoming new consumers, conducting initial intake assessments by gathering all pertinent demographic information, social history, identifying needs of the consumers, and completing all other required intake paperwork.  Intake coordinator will ensure consumers meet eligibility criteria and will coordinate with case managers, client services manager, and medical staff to ensure needs are being addressed.  Works under the supervision of the MCOT Team Leader for Wilson/Karnes MCOT.  Constantly exercises vigilance in maintaining confidential files and reports.  Manages an efficient office system and contributes to the Center’s stated purpose.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
Experience in intake and assessment of new clients.
Applicant must live in the service area.

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrate ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish.
Three (3) years’ experience in intake and assessments.
One (1) year of the required experience must be in health-care related activities.
Must possess experience in computer and/or data collection.
Experience and proficiency using computer/office equipment and software:  Word, Excel, and Internet.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of mental health-related disorders to greet consumers in a professional and courteous manner.
Extensive knowledge of eligibility requirements so appropriate payer information is provided to our internal insurance verification team.
Knowledge of business terminology, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and arithmetic.
Knowledge of office procedures and practices.
Knowledge of the principles of office management.
Must have excellent customer service skills in a high intense environment.
Must be able to advocate and facilitate identified needs to the inner agency service providers.
Ability to work independently on difficult/complex office tasks and maintain confidential records and files, to prepare accurate detailed reports using statistical information.
Able to work with the public and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment and under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to problem solve in a creative, viable and realistic manner.  Willingness to accept addition assignments/duties to ensure meeting departmental and agency needs.
Ability to maintain physical and emotional stamina to permit full performance of duties.
