GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Under the general direction of the MH Crisis Director or designated staff, the Team Leader/LPHA performs administrative duties involving day-to-day operations of the MCOT Unit, training, and supervision of the work performance of designated clinical staff.  Responsible at least monthly or as directed by the MH Crisis Director for the planning, organizing, and conducting multidisciplinary team meetings with collaboration of the team psychiatrist.  The Team Leader/LPHA is an integral part of the Mobile Crisis Team whose duties include recommendation input regarding hiring and terminations, staff job descriptions and evaluations, scheduling and workload assignments as needed or directed.  The Team Leader/LPHA will develop and maintain a positive working relationship with and have regular contact with local hospitals, law enforcement agencies and other community professionals, assist in crisis safety planning, attend meetings, and provide written documentation of all crises related activity to include routing reporting for  maintenance of the MH database.  This position may require extensive local travel, flexible hours, including some weekends, evening hours, on-call duty, and coverage in the absence of other staff.  Team Leader/LPHA position requires cellular telephone availability with no exceptions, will adhere to State and Camino Real Community Services’ policies and procedures, and will perform all other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of Camino Real Community Services.  The use of a personal vehicle as well as travel may be required.

The LPHA/Team Leader will provide intake and counseling services to referred individuals who are placed at the Lytle & Eagle Pass Crisis Residential Units and CMHC Outpatient Services.  Also, provides social and behavior skills training to the individuals enrolled in MCOT services.  Performs complex social services work including case management, crisis intervention, diagnostic assessments and collaborate with community agencies.  This position also involves communicating with a treatment team for the diagnosis and treatment of clients.  Must participate in after-hours crisis consultation on-call rotation.  This position requires local travel, the ability to work changing shifts to include evenings, some weekend coverage, have rotating days off, and be available to work at variable times and at variable locations.  Will complete all other duties as assigned to assist CRCS in meeting its goals and objectives.  This position provides direct clinical supervision to non-licensed staff.  Services will be delivered in person and by video conference.  LPHAs are required to document work daily utilizing agency approved software.  Constantly exercises vigilance in maintaining confidential files and reports.

Must have and maintain a current license in good standing in the State of Texas as an LPC or LCSW.  Must be able to be credentialed through various insurance panels.  One year’s experience in social, behavioral, or human services, including diagnostics.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for the position:
 
  • Master’s Degree in counseling or social work.
  • Must have & maintain a current license in good standing in the State of Texas.  Must be licensed as an LPC, LCSW or LMFT.
  • Must be able to be credentialed through various insurance panels.
  • One year’s experience in social, behavioral, or human services, including diagnostics.
  • Must be CBT certified.
  • Crisis Intervention experience.
  • One-year experience working with dually diagnosed mental illness/substance abuse.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Able to be on-call after hours at least one time every 4-6 weeks.  Applicant must be able to respond to a crisis call within one hour in Atascosa and/or Frio/LaSalle Counties.

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Strongly prefer 3 years of work experience in a mental health inpatient program or chemical dependency field.
  • One year’s experience in social, behavioral, or human services, including diagnostics.
  • Must be CPT certified.
  • English/Spanish skills; demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish.
  • Reside in the service area.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
 
  • Knowledge of social work and/or counseling principles, theory, and methods.
  • Knowledge of applied behavioral science and evidenced-based practices in Psychology.
  • Knowledge in the area of enhancing social, psychosocial, or bio psychosocial functioning of individuals, couples, families, groups, organizations, and communities.
  • Knowledge in the area of interviewing, assessment, and evaluation.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to plan, develop, and implement consumer services.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professionals and individuals.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and practices of social work and chemical dependency, anger management, grief, divorce, adoption, and the functioning of mental health hospitals and/or out-patient mental health clinics.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professional groups, exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment when dealing with people, prepare reports and recommendations for administrative use.
  • Knowledge of the needs and characteristics associated with the target population.
  • Knowledge of local community resources, how to access those services and use them effectively.
  • Skills in performing assessments and developing a treatment plan for the individual.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently, organize work efficiently, and respond to the changing needs of the individual.
  • Ability to work in a crisis.
  • Leadership abilities with the ability to identify problems/gaps in service.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to plan, develop, and implement consumer services.
  • Ability to supervise the work of others and provide guidance to other staff.
  • Must have ability to work under conditions requiring physical stamina and ability to work in a stressful environment.
