GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Camino Real Community Services is a Trauma Informed Care Agency and implements the principles of Trauma Informed Care.

The primary role is to coordinate and provide Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) training opportunities (individual and/or group) to families enrolled in ECI and the general public.  The training courses are curriculum based and require collection of data and submission of timely reporting.  This position will coordinate with community agencies and contracted dietitian services to provide quality training.  This position will also complete the HHSC ECI Service Coordination module to serve as a Service Coordinator and provide case management services to enrolled children and families on an as needed basis.  Complies with regulations and processes throughout implementation of the SNAP-Ed program.  Submits accurate and timely documentation.  Extensive travel throughout the assigned area is required.  Use of a personal vehicle is required hen an agency vehicle is not available.  Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.  This position is supervised by the site Team Leader.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for the position:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:  child development, child life, communication disorders, early childhood (with or without certification), special education (with or without certification) AND Transcript must contain 3 hours of college credit in early childhood development or early childhood special education.  OR
  • Bachelor’s degree (other than those listed above) including 18 hours of college credit (verified by an official transcript with a passing grade) directly related to early intervention, AND Transcript must contain 3 hour of college credit in early childhood development or early childhood special education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developmental milestones, 0 to 5 years.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and/or experience.
  • Prior outreach and/or direct work experience in the provision of services to infants, toddlers, and their families.

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • English/Spanish skills, demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish.
  • Prior experience in an outreach or training role.
  • Resides in the catchment area.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
 
  • Knowledge of normal child development and intervention techniques for treating developmentally delayed infants and toddlers.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to use intervention techniques effectively.
  • Skillful in developing, organizing, and utilizing community resources.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to resolve conflict in area of responsibility.
  • Ability to coordinate, plan, and develop programs and provide services to families.
  • Must possess good computer skills.
  • Must have ability to work under conditions requiring physical stamina and ability to work in a stressful environment.
