GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Camino Real Community Services is a Trauma Informed Care Agency and implements the principles of Trauma Informed Care.
The Child and Adolescent Therapist provides cognitive behavioral therapy to children and adolescents that meet priority population services from Camino Real.  Also, provides social and behavior skills training to children and their families.  Performs complex social services work including case management, parenting, crisis intervention, diagnostic assessments and collaborate with community agencies.  This position also involves communicating with a treatment team for the diagnosis and treatment of clients.  Position requires extensive travel and may require use of personal vehicle.  Must meet minimum standards and productivity.
Assists the Director in providing community education and consultation.  Interagency collaboration is essential to this position.  The job requires extensive travel for community-based service provision and flexible hours and schedule.  Administratively reports directly to the C&A MH Clinic Manager,

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for the position:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major courses in social, behavioral, or human service, holding on the following licenses (LCSW, LPC, LMFT).  Candidate may be working toward licensure in counseling or social work, *fully licensed salary.
  • Must be CST certified within one year of hire date.
  • Two (2) years’ experience working in a mental health setting, with at least 1 year with children and adolescent population.
  • Must possess good computer skills.
  • The license must be in good standing.

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior working experience with mental health, social, behavioral, or human services including diagnostics.
  • Three (3) years of experience working as an LPC.
  • English/Spanish skills; demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish.
  • Local resident of Atascosa County.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of individual needs/characteristics associated with mental illness.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and practices of behavioral science and behavioral health care.
  • Knowledge of community based behavioral health service.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, government regulation, and agency rules governing behavioral health care.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of local community resources, how to access them and use them effectively.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of agency rules, regulations policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ability to work with the public and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to problem solve in a creative, viable and realistic manner.
  • Ability to work independently, to organize work efficiently, and to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professionals, individuals, and groups of people.
  • Ability to develop productive relationships with individual and family members that focus on individual specific outcomes.
  • Ability to advocate effectively for an individual in the target population.
  • Ability to make appropriate referrals and linkages and to overcome barriers between service systems.
  • Must have ability to work under conditions requiring physical stamina and ability to work in a stressful environment.
