GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is a list of job duties and responsibilities, including essential and marginal tasks: The PRN LVN will serve as the LVN for the Crisis Residential program and is responsible for providing direct care services as needed to ensure ongoing operations of the facility. The main headquarters for this position is Eagle Pass, Texas. This position requires flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays, 8am to 8:30pm or 8pm to 8:30am. The position requires excellent communication, written/interpersonal skills, ability to meet strict deadlines, and the ability to work in a residential crisis setting. Responsible for monitoring medical and psychiatric issues, have excellent nursing judgment and be an advocate for the consumer within a team process. Duties include implementing a plan of quality physical and behavioral health care, as well as nursing services to the priority populations served by CRCS and advising senior leadership about the same. Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement, document, and evaluate nursing care provided to consumers under the requirements of the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Maintains control of drugs and medications and may provide oversight to direct care providers. This position reports directly to the CRU Director of Nurses and receives clinical oversight from the Medical Director.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed to practice as a licensed vocational nurse in the State of Texas.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience practicing as a licensed vocational nurse.
- Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have work experience using a computer, valid driver’s license, and acceptable driving record.
- Experience meeting strict deadlines in a busy health care service environment.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Reside in Maverick County.
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in the mental health field as well as experience in a community setting.
- Familiarity with web-based SmartCare.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of individual needs/characteristics associated with mental illness and appropriate approaches to treatment and nursing functions.
- Knowledge of computer and office automation equipment and software to support nursing services.
- Skill with health care delivery in a bilingual setting.
- Skills with primary care and psychiatric vocational nursing.
- Ability to develop productive relationships with consumers and family members.
- Ability to work independently, organize work efficiently and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- The ability to maintain physical and emotional stamina to permit full performance of duties.
- Ability to work in a crisis.
