GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following is a list of job duties and responsibilities, including essential and marginal tasks:


This position is responsible for the oversight and maintenance of grant revenues and expenditures, implement revenue controls and ensure timeliness and accuracy of grant reimbursement requests and financial reports. Provide feedback to management regarding grant financial status. Examples of job duties include:
 
  • Monitor and review grant expenditures for authenticity, compliance with grant guidelines and regulations, and adherence to budgetary restrictions.
  • Generate and submit timely interim and final financial reports to oversight agencies. Follow-up as necessary to ensure accurate submission of data.
  • Provide assistance and financial expertise to grant writing staff to effectively develop grant applications and implement awarded grants.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reimbursement requests, including SAMHSA and private foundation grants.
  • Support accounting department in preparing for submission quarterly and annual reports to federal and/or state government. Prepare adjusting entries and generate budget adjustments, as necessary.
  • Participate in information gathering and preparation of reports and schedules, as necessary to prepare for oversight agency reviews and audits.
  • Recommend accounting operations policies and procedures, develop written guidelines and training materials to ensure compliance with State financial policies/procedures.

This position reports to the Assistant Chief Financial Officer. As a trauma-informed center, all staff are required to attend trauma-informed care training. Travel is required within the service area with some weekend responsibilities on an on-call basis.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for the position:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience as an accountant working with government type entities.
  • Experience with accounting software products such as SAGE 300 or other related products.
  • You must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants who possess one or more of the following qualifications in addition to the minimum qualifications are preferred:
 
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
  • Prior experience working with federal or state grants.
  • Demonstrate ability to read, write, and speak English.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
 
  • Skill in communicating with users having differing levels of experience in budgeting.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have the ability to organize tasks.
  • Ability to work under conditions requiring physical stamina and the ability to work in a stressful environment.
